I had the privilege of representing BC/Yukon Command at the President’s Circle Reception at UBC last night. It was hosted by the President of UBC, Santa J. Ono. The purpose of this reception is to recognize benefactors of the University, specifically those organizations or individuals who have contributed a total of at least $250,000. You are part of that group.

Through the Command Poppy Fund, we fund a professorship in the Faculty of Education, called the Royal Canadian Legion Professorship in Group Counselling and Trauma. Currently held by Dr. Marla Buchanan, the position explores various aspects of trauma and trauma counselling and helps us provide services to veterans who are suffering from the effects of traumatic experience. The professorship is closely linked to the Veterans Transition Network, which is funded in part through your BC/Yukon Command Foundation.

To listen to Dr. Buchanan speak about her position and her vision, check out her video here.

For more information on the Veterans Transition Network, check out the page on our website.

All this and more is possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of so many wonderful Legionnaires across BC and the Yukon. Thanks so much for everything you do for veterans and the community.
